Dr. Bhatia has been a partner at Mercer Gastroenterology and an active staff member of Capital Health system since 2004. She provides consultation services for both out-patients and inpatients.
Dr. Bhatia completed her medical degree from University of Bombay, India and her residency training in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY. Following residency, she was appointed Chief Medical Resident and received the House Staff Achievement Award for exceptional service to the residency program. At Lenox Hill Hospital she completed fellowship training in gastroenterology and liver diseases. During her final year as a senior fellow she was awarded the Hess Fellowship Excellence Award. Dr. Bhatia has published two research studies and conducted several presentations on various topics.
Dr. Bhatia is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Bhatia is focused on providing patient-centered and compassionate care. She specializes in colon cancer screening, management of reflux disease, irritable bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease, capsule endoscopy, liver and pancreatic diseases, rectal bleeding and hemorrhoidal issues. She has significant experience in performing procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy/colonoscopy, bleeding control, Bravo pH study, esophageal dilatation, enteroscopy, and capsule endoscopy.
As a staff member at Capital Health Hospital she teaches medical residents and has served on the Performance Improvement committee.
